Introduction
It is the seventh time that the Balkankult Foundation organizes the Nordisk Panorama Film Festival in Belgrade and Serbia wide.
The Nordisk Panorama '10 of Nordic short and long documentary, animated and feature films is going to take place in Belgrade at the Hall of the Cultural Centre of Belgrade from 11th – 15th February 2010. Alongside with the Cultural Center of Belgrade, Nordisk Panorama '10 films are going to be screened in the Cultural Center of Studentski Grad as well. The source of the Nordisk Panorama '10 is the 20th Nordisk panorama – Five Cities Film Festival held between September 25 and the 30 September 2009 in Reykjavik, Iceland. Accordingly, the Belgrade Nordisk Panorama 10's repertoire is derived from the Reykjavik, Iceland Nordisk Panorama film program. Two experts from the Nordic and the Balkan region, Mr. Jing Haas, managing director of Filmkontakt Nord, and Mr. Marin Malešević, film director.
The aim of the festival
Continuation of the program whose main goal is cooperation with Europe (ie the Nordic countries), which initiate cultural bridges. This is to allow the concrete support of international cultural cooperation, decentralization of cultural production and distribution of the development of creative industries, but also the opportunity for intercultural dialogue and the development of cultural diversity.
Theme Film Program
This Nordic Panorama '10 shows about 827 minutes of the best nordic film production from 2009th. A total of 35 films, short, documentary, animated and several experimental works.
Importance of the project
There has been a growing interest in documentaries in the world over the last few years and the Nordic countries are no exception. Documentaries are important for democracy and human rights. Makers of documentaries have over the years brought on to the screen the stories of people and places that matter to us all. Great ocumentaries open our eyes, they make us think, they make a difference.
Short films are an important form. In the world of literature there has been an ongoing discussion about the role and future of short stories. Some short story writers say that people do not respect the form, say that they‘re frequently asked when they’re going to write their novel. Maybe it’s the same with makers of short films. It’s in festivals like Nordisk Panorama that you become aware that the short film is an expanding and important art form that is wonderfully inspiring. Many great film makers made their first steps in short films –and many great film makers are makers of short films.
Nordisk Panorama will once again allow us to make contact with the newest and freshest ideas from youngfilmmakers – along with the proven work of experienced and renowned filmmakers. In times of globalization and increased monotony it is more important than ever to embrace the diversity of the world and I am sure that many of these short films and documentaries will touch the audience deeply.
Project background
A great interest of general public and media for the Nordisk panorama '10 is expected. Every year approximately 3500 people visit Nordisk Panorama in Belgrade and a great media attention is payed to the Festival (press conferences, reports on Radio station and TV spots and individual TV shows on National television RTS, Studio B, TV Art; news articles in the major print media – Blic, Politika, Vecernje novosti, Danas, etc). After Belgrade screenings are regularly organized in more than twenty cities throughout Serbia (Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, Niš, Leskovac, Sopot, Obrenovac, Lazarevac Beočin, Gornji Milanovac, Pančevo etc).
