Description of the project
1. Exhibition of "The bracelets made of glass paste, glass and gagat from the southern part of the Roman province of Lower Pannonia takes place in the City gallery of Monfalcone. Collected together in one place for the purpose of the exhibition, photo reproductions of Roman glass bracelets originating from Pannonia Inferior are supposed to connect the two regions into an international cultural cooperation project on the common cultural heritage platform. Photographic reproductions of the original objects belonging to the collections of Museum of Srem (Sremska Mitrovica), Museum of Vojvodina (Novi Sad), City Museum of Novi Sad, City Museum of Belgrade, Museum of Slavonija (Osijek), City Museum of Vinkovcito are graphical reconstructions of the fragmented pieces of the outstanding artistic quality.
2. Multimedial presentation - along with the exhibition a multimedial presentation of archeological sites of Roman period in Vojvodina will take place in the same premises. The presentation is based on the monography "Archeological Sites of Roman Period in Vojvodina" by Maja Đorđević. A particular stress will be put on presentation of Sirmium as the imperial city in the Roman Empire.
3. Publication of monography - in Serbian/Croation, with the summary in Italian and EnglishBesides its considerable aesthetic aspect, the exhibition is conceived to make a great educational impact. Since this field of archeology has not been studied enough, the accompanying monography is the first result of scientific research ever on this type of objects in the corpus of Classical cultural heritage from the territory of Roman provinces in the Balkans / the Danube Basin region. This the one and only monography ever writen on Roman classical bracelets made of glass paste, glass and gagat from the southern part of the Roman province of Lower Pannonia. The author was dr Vesna Ĺ aranović-Svetek (1937-1993) who worked as custodian of the archeological collection of the City Museum in Vinkovci (Croatia) and research fellow in the Museum of Vojvodina in Novi Sad.
3. lectures - side activitiesCultural-educational programme (series of lectures) for the general public is planned to take place during the exhibition, delivered by experts in this scietific field from Italy, Croatia and Serbia.
