The foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, established for an indefinite period of time, for the purpose of charitable achievement of the generally beneficial goals established by the founding act. BalkanKult foundation intereg is the first regional cultural foundation in the Balkans. It has been made out of a need expressed through the work of cultural practitioners and artists in order to create new cultural environments. It is founded on the experiences of the BalkanKult Association, established in 1999 in Sarajevo. The main goals: Research and publishing activities in the areas of: culture of memory; promotion of international cultural cooperation; development of cultural diversity.
At the time of full activity, 6 associates were permanently employed in the Foundation. During 2004 to 2006, more than 40 international projects were implemented. The success of the Foundation’s work can be valued by its presence in the media. The media not only contribute to informing the target groups, they also contribute to fulfilling the basic goal of the Foundation which is the education and informing of the wider public about projects results. Due to the change in the social situation in Serbia, the Foundation reduced its activities. Unfortunately, in recent years, due to the lack of financial resources, the Foundation has not been able to finance the implementation of some planned activities.
Most of the projects are realized by the cultural expert Dimitrije Vujadinović with external collaborators.
