In the sounds of the places, music festival

In 2006, four towns will be involved in the project.  These towns, Belgrade, Smederevo, Sremska Mitrovica and Zajecar all possess Roman localities.  The goal is to enhance the partnerships between the cities of Western Balkan Region and Northern Italy.  Some of the concerts of the Italian artists will be held twice in the mentioned towns.

In the summer of 2004, for the first time, Serbia and Montenegro participated in the completion of the project called In the sounds of places, whose target is connecting the cities with an important cultural heritage. This music festival is a part of the programme called INTERREG III A, which is supported by the Italian government.

Balkankult foundation is the regional coordinator of the project and the festival is supported by Italian Cultural Institute, Italian Consulate General in Podgorica, as well as by municipalities and different tourist organizations of the cities participants- Belgrade, Zajecar, Smederevo, Sremska Mitrovica, Bar and Perast. The coordinator of the project in Italy is Progetto musica (Monfalcone).

Italian artists perform on tour in the cities of Serbia and Montenegro, as well as in other cities of the region. After that, our artists go on tours in Italy. Apart from cultural and artistic collaboration, the aim of this project is to develop and improve the economic cooperation, because the festival represents a unique opportunity for the tourist workers and businessmen to meet each other, which enables the evaluation of smaller cities that have an important cultural heritage.

There have been held more than 70 concerts in the countries of our region, more than 450 musicians took part in the festival that took place in Italy and more than 10 000 people have visited that festival.
